Wildlife Worriors - Form 4

Materials: Laptop, Projector, Mahjong Paper, Markers, Whiteboard


Lead-in (10 minutes):

  1. The teacher projects the title ‘Wildlife Warriors’ on the whiteboard.

  2. The students are asked to scan through the title and answer a few questions.

  3. The teacher posts SPQs:
  • Does anyone know the meaning of ‘Wildlife’?

  • How about the word ‘Warriors’?


4. The teacher will show some pictures of wild animals to the students.

5. The students will name the animals accordingly.



6. The teacher posts SPQs:

  • Do you think these animals are in danger?

  • Can these animals be saved?

  • Where can you find all these animals now?
  • How can we help to save them?


*Always remember to make full use of the whiteboard with students' answers at one corner... Students learn better by seeing.


Stage 1 (30 minutes):
  1. Teacher provides instruction on what to do in this activity:
  • You will watch a clip now. There are a few animals found in the clip and you need to identify what are they, what had happened to them, and what is the message posted by the singer... (write on board if you need to)

2. Teacher plays the clip on "EARTH SONG" by Michael Jackson.

3. Teacher elicits answers from the students.

4. The students watch once again to check their answers.

*Instruction must always be clear and should be posted at the beginning of the stage in order to provide a clear picture to the students on what to expect and on what to do.

Stage 2 (15 minutes):

  1. Teacher distributes Worksheet 1 to the students.
  2. Students discuss the questions with their partner(s).
  3. Teacher elicits answers and writes on the whiteboard.

*Worksheet 1: Prepare a set of questions based on the clip. Make full use of all your materials rather than one material for one stage...

Closure (5 minutes):

  1. Teacher recaps the lesson on what had been they learnt.
  2. Teacher posts SPQs:
  • Why do people hunt these wild animals?
  • How can we stop illegal hunting?
  • Who should stop this activity and how?
  • What other activities that can be carried out to stop illegal hunting?
  • What do you think will happen to Malaysian wildlife fifty years from now?
3. Teacher may ask the type of moral value learnt from the lesson today.

*Closure will normally be short and should recap what was learnt from the beginning. Moral value should also be stressed as marks are given in observation.
